Las Vegas, Nev.  Today, the National Finals Rodeo began. Nearly every year, the rodeo bolsters thousands of good-paying union jobs throughout the city of Las Vegas. Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Nevada State AFL-CIO Susie Martinez released the following statement, welcoming the National Finals Rodeo to Las Vegas:

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The National Finals Rodeo has returned to Las Vegas, bringing with it opportunities for our union brothers and sisters to earn a quality paycheck during the holiday season. As a Teamster, I remember the excitement of the rodeo returning to town, bringing with it more guests and more work during such an important time of year for so many Nevada families. As I worked with guests every day, I recognized the importance of the Rodeo to our state’s economy and to the livelihood of our union brothers and sisters working alongside me.

Nevada runs on tourism as the largest sector of our economy, and large events coming to our state, like the Rodeo, are crucial to keeping our brothers and sisters on the job and putting food on the table. As we enter the holiday season, I’m grateful to the Rodeo for the opportunities it brings for the workers the Nevada State AFL-CIO fights for.”
