The 2020 Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship Fund
Nevada high school seniors in the graduating class of 2020 with a 2.0 or higher GPA may apply for this scholarship. One parent must be an active or retired member in good standing of any local union affiliated with the Nevada State AFL-CIO. Student must be planning to attend a college, university, vocational or trade school.
Five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each will be offered. Deadline to apply is August 13, 2020.
To apply, answer the following question in essay form (1,000 words minimum), then follow the instructions below. Your question is:
COVID-19 Pandemic has now been affecting the country since March 2020. At that point in time the Nevada unemployment rate was 3.5 to 4%. Since then it has skyrocketed to close to 30%. Numerous workers have died as a result of exposure to the disease. Businesses have been closed for extended periods of time. Nevada is just now starting to reopen for business.
Beyond the high unemployment rates, what issues do you foresee in the future for Nevada’s Labor workforce?
How will the pandemic affect the workforce going forward and what do you feel are changes that will be made in the future that will impact workers?
What steps can be taken to address these issues going forward?

The 2020 Arnold/Jones/Evans Scholarship is administered through the Public Education Foundation.
To apply:
1. Log on to thepef.org and click "programs," then "scholarships."
2. Choose "Apply for scholarships."
3. Choose "Sign up" and enter your email and create a password.
4. Check your email for link to begin your application.
5. Complete your general application, sign and submit.
6. Next, click on "Opportunities," and search for "Arnold/Jones/Evans."
7. After selecting the Arnold/Jones/Evans scholarship, choose "apply."
8. Answer the supplemental questions and enter your essay into the space provided.
9. Upload your unofficial transcripts.
10. Click "Finish and Submit!"
