Campaign Manager

The Nevada State AFL-CIO is Nevada's largest federation of labor unions. Through our affiliates, we represent over 210,000 union members and their families statewide. We are looking to add a Campaign Manager to our team for the duration of our Labor 2022 program.

The Labor 2022 program is where union members contact other union members about the importance of voting for Nevada's pro-worker candidates for elected office. We know that when we have these important conversations with voters, we can win elections.

Overview of Responsibilities:

The Campaign Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Nevada State AFL-CIO’s Labor 2022 electoral campaign. This position will work in conjunction with the national AFL-CIO and under the supervision and direction of the Nevada State AFL-CIO Executive Secretary-Treasurer.

Description of Duties:

  • Work with Nevada State AFL-CIO leadership to determine campaign goals and keep them fully informed on all issues affecting the federation;
  • Work with unions along with progressive and political allies and community groups to develop shared goals and strategies around campaigns that benefit the federation;
  • Develop and implement strategic issues and electoral campaigns in the field that support the State Federation’s overall objectives;
  • Conceptualize and construct the campaign voter contact plan including the drafting of the walk program targets, needs and execution;
  • Manage the overall campaign volunteer objectives for all voter contact program;
  • Establish accountability systems to ensure that campaign voter contact goals are met, including the implementation of post-campaign debriefs and assessments;
  • Develop and implement strategies to streamline resources to support campaign activity and avoid duplicative campaign work;
  • Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports as requested;
  • Finalize post-election reports including leading the breakdown of campaign equipment and inventory;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years of campaign experience coordinating all aspects of a campaign including; or at least 3-5 years of prior experience coordinating all aspects of the issue, organizing, or political campaigns including demonstrated success as a campaign manager;
  • Experience putting together campaign voter contact strategies including plan writing and budgets, be able to use all tools necessary including but not limited to data, analytics, media (earned, online), and field;
  • Thorough understanding and experience of the Voter Action Network (VAN) or Vote Builder, Labor Activation Network (LAN);
  • Willingness to sign and honor an agreement protecting the integrity of union and partner data;
  • Experience in field mobilization including direct voter/member contact (canvassing, phone banks, or worksite organizing) as well as event planning, execution, and turnout for events large and small;
  • Experience working in politically sensitive situations with demonstrated diplomacy;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage teams with varying levels of experience and work effectively in a team environment;
  • Knowledge of and experience with the labor movement;
  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining campaigns and union representation campaigns preferred;
  • Working knowledge of the electoral, legislative and related processes at federal, state, and local levels;
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in politically sensitive and high-pressure environments;
  • Effective time management skills, including prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, and demonstrated experience in developing campaign and personal work plans and goals;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; writing sample required which includes a portion of a plan or past plan used for a campaign
  • Ability to travel within the state on a regular basis as needed.

Compensation and Timeline:

This is a full-time, temporary position with occasional weeknight and weekend obligations. This position begins immediately and runs through the end of the 2022 General Election through December 31, 2022. The compensation for this position ranges from $6,000 to $7,000 per month.
